Back in 2017, I brought my children to Kouchibouguac National Park for a hike on the Bog Trail. I wasn't really looking to do any serious photography, but thought I'd snap a few shots of the kids while out on the trail.
If you've never been, it's an easy hike with less than 2 km of distance and a very flat terrain on a boardwalk. The view is really stunning and the scenery is a bit different than what you would see on other trails in the park.
I got a shot of the bog from the top of the observation tower with my boys out of frame. The photo shows an unidentifiable couple walking on the boardwalk trail in the distance.
I didn't realize the photo had any potential until I got home and started editing the images. The image was eventually shortlisted and was a finalist in a national photography contest. Not bad, considering I almost didn't even bring my camera with me, thinking the light wasn't good enough to bother. Just goes to show, it's never a bad idea to bring your camera with you!
